What does it REALLY mean...
to have your heart in your business?
Put your heart in your business; a beautiful idea, a beautiful concept, fodder for memes and quotes BUT what the f*&k does it mean and how the f%@k do you do that?
I had a conversation with a fabulous woman during the week who owns a high street business, a business where she sells what she creates and she creates what she sells. She fell out with her accountant about this - she was told this is not THE way to do business. But her heart, her instinct, insisted. Without having her factory' in her shop her heart is not in her business. She has a new accountant.
15 years ago I made a choice to put the heart back in my work.
Retrospectively it was a metaphoric life or death period of time for me; I was reeling from the impact of an early menopause, extricating myself from an abusive relationship, in therapy, depressed and drinking too much. My work may not have been killing me but it certainly wasn't helping and it was the one area of my life that I could change. It wasn't easy - I went part time, reduced my income, went back to college, followed my nose to do some weird intuition courses and eventually transitioned from a career in Information Technology into the uncharted territory of Imagination Technology.
I LOVE the thrill of being here and I love working with the forces of creation that are available to us to create what really matters, what really serves and what really harmonises with the more beautiful world that is truly visible from here. It is my pleasure to pioneer, experiment and explore what it takes, what will serve my clients to pour their hearts into their endeavours and to hold the course of that compass.
It makes life a wild, wonderful ride.
