The Kind of Growth You Don’t Have to Hustle For
So much of our working culture is centred around doing.
🔜 The next step
🔁 The new habit
🧠 The strategy
🏃 The sprint
🦋 The transformation
But is it true that growth has to equate to effort?
I think not.
More and more I experience true growth when I slow down, to allow myself to soften and drop into the darkness and quiet of this moment, just breathing, noticing and sitting in stillness.
Hearing myself, my breath, my heartbeat, the cacophony of the urgent, expected, and efficient and allowing it all to be, beautiful like the birds chirping in the trees making their own unique discordant noise.
That's when I remember what is true for me, it shows up like the nuzzle of a curious puppy or the sticky hand of a child drawn to my silence and no-thingness.
It may not be a Eureka moment or a million dollar idea but I notice the tap root of my soul finds nourishment and nurture in this space. Somehow I grow, imperceptibly but inexorably, my perspective shifts, my purview changes, and beautiful moments of satisfaction are mine.
I find this kind of 'space to grow' is hard to find but I cultivate it because the growing I do from this space grounds me in my life, it serves and supports me to weather the uncertainties and ups and downs. I am not shallow rooted, easily toppled or undone, I am deep rooted, kind, compassionate - a better person because of it.
I cultivate this space in my work - in individual coaching sessions and my group programs but I also yearn to do that in real life, in real places with real people so I do. I call this the work of serving evolution.
