Top 10 Tips To Create Something From Nothing

I had a career of 30+ years as a Project Manager delivering complex, innovative technology systems. 

Here is are 10 things I learnt about creating something from nothing - in no particular order

1. My natural bent for process, planning and organisation had to be mastered to be a help rather than a hindrance

2. The ability to see the world from another's perspective is a necessary skill for leading a team

3. A project plan is a guide not a road map

4. A good project team can transcend a bad plan

5. A bad plan will scupper everything if people are not working together

6. Plans, processes, organisation are nothing without people buy in

7. A good project manager holds the end result and can guide others in the direction of the vision

8. A good project manager holds tension and can work with it to create the best outcomes

9. Joy is the juice that fosters team work and magic

10. Micro management is the road to hell and a red flag not to be ignored
