The longer I work the more I want to avoid being involved in anything that doesn't have soul.
There is nothing I love more than devotional work, work that is dedicated to what inspires me, enlivens my soul and captures my imagination.
When I am the groove of devotional work magic happens.
I lose track of time, I can work for hours late into the night or even early in the morning - this is a big one for me!
I find energy that I didn't know I had from a source outside me and I achieve and deliver formidable outcomes with effortlessness and ease.
When I am doing work that is effortful and not easy I know I am in the weeds of work that isn't of service to my soul.
It may be work I am good at.
I am, for example, an excellent organiser and project manager. I bring these gifts and talents to all of what I do but I have learnt that if I am using these skills and talents in a way that is out of integrity with my spirit then it will be hard work.
It will be a drudge, uninspired and almost certainly fraught with difficulties and resentment.
Oscar Wilde said “Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken”.
I say be yourself because this is the pathway to work with soul, to work that is effortless, easy, inspiring, rewarding and most likely will have a ripple effect far beyond anything you thought was possible.
