I left my city life in 2017. Since then I have lived in Yorkshire, Cornwall, on an off grid island in New Zealand, an alternative Greek community, on the edge of the Majiella National Park in Italy and more recently walking distance from the Grand Union Canal and the River Avon in the UK.
I love the accessibility of living near nature. I have learnt that is more important to me than the convenience and culture of living in a city. Being in nature feeds my creativity, soothes my soul and expands my mind. Excuse the pun but being in nature is a breathe of fresh air blowing through the cobwebs of my mind and so many moments when time stands still.
The frosty magic of the canal iced-over, slip sliding down soft soggy English hillsides on a Sunday afternoon hike; the afternoon a deer crosses my path and stops, caught in the dappled sunlight through the trees; the magnificence of a country fox, contrasting with his louche urban cousins; the unexpected glimpse of a black aborreal squirrel; all manner of butterflies, song birds and raptors.
Each moment a soft reboot to my soul.
