In the gym, I may not always enjoy the resistance, but I welcome it.
Resistance is the key to muscle growth and strength. Whether I’m bench-pressing that extra 10kg or increasing the incline on the stair master, every challenge opens a portal to my next level of fitness.
Just as resistance shapes our physical bodies, it also shapes our minds and lives. Here are 5 mental shifts that helped me embrace the unseen forms of resistance and channel them into personal and strategic growth:
1. Celebrate Where You Are: The past is a closed chapter, and the future remains unwritten. My focus is on the present moment, the only thing that matters.
2. Do Your Best Today: Comparison—whether to others or my past self—is the enemy of progress. Instead, I focus on doing my best in this moment.
3. Name the Resistance: Whether it’s a dip in energy, an unexpected obstacle, or an emotion that catches me off guard, I identify the resistance. Naming it is the first step in transforming it.
4. Reframe the Obstacle: Resistance isn’t a roadblock—it’s a guide. Every challenge has something to teach me. Instead of seeing resistance as an obstacle, I explore what lesson it offers.
5. Take Intentional Action: With clarity around my goals, I use resistance as a stepping stone. Just like physical training, the weight of resistance builds strength for personal and creative evolution.
"One day in the gym doesn’t make an athlete," and the same goes for life. It’s the consistency of effort and the clarity of our end goals that really sets the bar.
For me, imagination is the paintbrush of the soul. I use storytelling techniques to dream beyond my limits and create results that truly excite me.
