The Stoics exhort us to memento mori — remember that we must die. The idea is that reflecting on mortality can inspire us to lead a more meaningful life. This isn’t a morbid call to dwell on the end. It’s an invitation to live more vividly now.To reflect on death is to stand at the edge of what’s known — and to glimpse the freedom that lies beyond it.
Metaphorical Death: A Doorway to Freedom
I don’t know what lies beyond my physical death. But I do know this: when I am willing to metaphorically die — to let go of fixed ideas, identities, and certainties — something extraordinary becomes possible.
I find myself in what Rumi called “the field beyond right and wrong.”
In this place, I am no longer confined by past experiences or limited definitions of who I am.
I can be contradictory, fluid, unknown to myself. I am in the void — not as absence, but as spaciousness. And in that darkness, I feel liberation. My spirit begins to rise — not in opposition to the descent, but because of it.
Spirit Finds Sustenance in Mystery
Spirit finds sustenance here — in the mystery. Georgia O’Keeffe put it beautifully:
"Making your unknown known is the important thing — and keeping the unknown always beyond you."
This is the paradox: To grow, I must let something die. To rise, I must first descend.
I am like a seed cracking open. Diving into the dark earth of the unknown, nourishing the embryonic stem of what longs in me to reach for the light.
Imagination as a Birthright
This is where re-imagination begins. Carl Sagan said:
"Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it, we go nowhere."
Without imagination — that beautiful birthright — we cannot grow. Without it, the seed of me withers in the ground.
The good news is: imagination is always available. It’s part of the software of our consciousness — preloaded, free, forever running.
Most of us don’t realise it’s there. By default, it latches onto old stories, inherited beliefs, and familiar fears.
But death — even the metaphorical kind — gives us a new freedom: The freedom to unhook our imagination. To reconnect with spirit. To imagine again. To create new stories.
This is my mission. The work of serving the unfolding, the natural evolution of spirit in myself and in others.
This work is for those in transition — leaders, creatives, seekers, and soul-led humans who sense there’s more to life than performance or productivity. It’s for anyone craving a deeper homecoming, a space to let go of old identities and imagine what else is possible. If you're yearning for stillness, mystery, and authentic growth — you’re not alone. This is your invitation.
If you feel the call to enter this fertile space — not to be better, but to have a place where you don’t have to be anyone at all — you can work with me online, or better yet in person:
