“If you are not lost you are not much of an explorer”
I was reminded of this quote by a little poem that came to me recently.
It is a quote from John Perry Barlow 1947-2018 - American poet, essayist, cattle rancher, AND a cyber-libertarian political activist as well as, most wonderfully, a lyricist for the Grateful Dead.
Lost & Not Found
To be lost and need to be found
Is terrifying, petrifying
It is to feel haunted and hunted
Gasping for air, clutching at straws
Entangled in the entrails of dark terrors and monsters under the bed
Assailed by the thundering of my own heart beat
Drowning in the drama of my mind.
To be lost and not need to be found
Is the sweetest place to be
To delight in the deliciousness of not knowing
To be present with the heart beat of the mystery
To listen to the whispers of the Universe
Telling stories of worlds and galaxies beyond my imagining
Weaving dreams of promise and possibility into the fabric of my consciousness.
