Do You Have A Blueprint For Your Future?

I am like a kid in a candy store when I get into my imagination. Nothing is off limits, nothing is impossible.

Yesterday I spent 2 delightful, delicious hours with a client refining their vision for life and business into direct, clear and inspiring end results to guide them strategically over the next 9-12 months. 

As a kid that ability to disappear into my imagination and fish out ideas made me a bit of liability. One minute zoned out in a dream, the next dragging my 3 year brother out to explore the 'forest' for witches, wizards and unicorns. My poor mother, heart in her mouth on more than one occasion, frantically searching for her 4 year old marching towards the arterial Welling Way, Greater London to get to Oxleas Woods - not quite the magical woodland of my imagination. 

It was imperative, for my safety and my mother's sanity, that I was reined in, educated, guided into a safer track in life. There was no malice in my desire to explore. I was a good and obedient child so it didn't take much to encourage me to be the responsible eldest and by getting me into school, to direct my curiosity for learning into acceptable subject areas.

Fast forward 40 years and dissatisfaction with my IT career and straining against the strictures of my traditional life I rediscovered my imagination and the tools to master it.

12 years on I have a heart-full appreciation for my gift, talent and courage to be in that wilderness, not just for myself but also for my clients. It is a glorious, delicious, expansive experience to work with clients to do the strategic visioning work. 

In terms of hours it doesn't take long - about 6 hours but in terms of care and attention it requires focus, titration and distillation over time - about 2-3 weeks. Like anything that is held with love, care, tenderness and given space to expand the results for my clients are exquisite. I am full to overflowing with the delirious awe and wonder of imagination I first touched on in childhood but now adult enough to hold the bubbling crucible of it as it does its work through me and for me.
