Being Human
We are part human, part spirit.
As human beings, we experience ourselves as separate from each other and the world. This sense of separateness is part of our design. Yet, as energetic beings, quantum physics reminds us that separation is an illusion—we are all connected. And as spirit, we are inherently part of the oneness of the cosmos.
And therein lies the paradox.
Both aspects—our humanness and our spirit—coexist in our consciousness, shaping how we relate, the impact we have, and the depth of intimacy we experience.
What’s useful to understand is this:
Relating from our humanness reinforces separation.
Relating from spirit amplifies connection.
The Continuum of Relating
Relating is not a fixed state—it exists on a continuum. At one end, we experience separation, shaped by our humanness, personal narratives, and conditioning. At the other end, we experience oneness, shaped by our energetic nature and spiritual essence.
Between these two poles lies a vast and dynamic continuum, where we oscillate between different ways of being in relationship:
Relating from Separation (The Human Experience)
Rooted in individuality, identity, and personal perception.
Creates distance, misunderstanding, and sometimes conflict.
Reinforces the illusion of "I" and "other."
Relationships may feel transactional, defensive, or conditional.
Relating from Connection (The Spiritual Experience)
Rooted in presence, awareness, and energetic connection.
Creates intimacy, understanding, and a deep sense of unity.
Recognizes the interconnectedness of all beings.
Relationships feel expansive, safe, and deeply fulfilling.
The Dance in Between
Most of us move fluidly along this continuum throughout our lives and even within a single conversation.
Challenges, fears, and ego pull us toward separation.
Awareness, self-responsibility, and presence bring us back to connection.
The more we cultivate presence and intention, the easier it becomes to stay rooted in deep, meaningful connection.
How Do We Navigate This Continuum?
Self-Awareness – Recognizing when we are relating from fear, ego, or projection.
Self-Responsibility – Owning our part in every interaction, letting go of blame or expectation of others.
Choice – Shifting from reaction to presence, from judgment to understanding.
Practice – Strengthening our ability to stay open, even in the face of challenge.
The more connected we feel, the more we know we are operating from spirit—and the more we open ourselves to deeper intimacy. This practice of coming home to ourselves cultivates our ability to step into life with love, integrity, and connection, creating ripples of transformation from the inside out.
When we transform ourselves, we change how we experience the world, what unfolds, and what we create. This is the essence of being the change—transforming the world not by force, but by how we are.
When we see how we show up, we better understand how others do too. We begin to recognize the illusory nature of interactions and perceptions, choosing instead to stay connected in a way that is empowering, expansive, and creative.
